Admission Requirements

Must possess a Bachelor's or Master's Degree from an accredited college/university or be currently enrolled in a Wingate University Graduate program.
- Must provide official college transcripts documenting completion of at least a Bachelor's degree
- No test scores or graduate entrance exams required
- One-page personal statement about why you have an interest in the addiction counseling field
Certificate Criteria
- Requires completion of 18 credit hours the equivalent of six addiction-specific and related courses
- HS 415 Field Experience or another internship course in an addiction counseling setting is highly recommended
- Receive a certificate upon successful completion of all courses with a final grade of C or higher
- Courses meet the educational requirements for the NC Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor, Certified Criminal Justice Addictions Professional, or Licensed Clinical Addictions Specialist
Admission Process
Complete the below application in order to submit your application package to be considered for admission to the Post-Baccalaureate Certificate in Addiction Counseling for the Summer 2025 or Fall 2025 term. It is recommended to allocate 45 minutes to complete the application, which must be completed and submitted at one time (no save or login option is available for this application).
Once your application has been submitted, we will provide you with the details to transmit official transcripts for all coursework attempted post-secondary. Once the application is completed and official transcripts are received, your application package will progress to review by the admissions committee.

*Note: The cost of the Post-Baccalaureate Certificate in Addiction Counseling is $420 per credit hour. Students enrolling in the Post-Baccalaureate Certificate in Addiction Counseling will not be eligible for financial aid. Tuition for the Fall Semester is due August 1, and tuition for the Spring Semester is due January 1. Students can enroll in a 5-month payment plan for each semester (Fall and Spring Only). All students will be charged a $10 technology fee each semester
