Religious Studies

ABOUT RELIGIOUS STUDIES

When you study religion, you build the knowledge and compassion to interact with people from diverse spiritual and cultural backgrounds. The religious studies major readies you for graduate study, a rewarding career and satisfying interpersonal relationships.

Religious Studies focuses on four content areas:

  • Biblical studies
  • Historical studies
  • Philosophical studies
  • Theological studies

You also choose electives from the religion and philosophy offerings, enabling you to tailor your degree to your interests and goals. You may specialize in a content area or explore a range of ideas.

OUTSIDE THE CLASSROOM

In addition to our classes, we offer opportunities to further your education and prepare for a career. Summer research grants enable students to work closely with faculty members on original research projects. Students often gain on-the-job experience with internships at local churches.
