Sport Management

ABOUT SPORT MANAGEMENT

While a sport sciences degree focuses on the science of sport, a sport management degree focuses on the business of sport. Sport management majors enjoy a robust course of study in the classroom. They also put theory into practice with a three-credit-hour internship in the summer between their junior and senior years. This full-time internship working with industry professionals prepares you to transition from school to the workplace.

The sport management degree program at Wingate University has received specialized accreditation through the Commission on Sport Management Accreditation (COSMA) located in Arlington, Virginia, USA. The sport management program in the following degrees are accredited by COSMA:

Bachelor of Science in Sport Management

COSMA requires its accredited members to be accountable to the public for the student learning and program-level (operational) outcomes of their sport management programs. Check out the Sport Management Student Achievement Data here. Passing, retention and placement rates can be found here.

INTERNSHIP OPPORTUNITIES

The capstone experience of the major is a two-part six-hour internship class, generally completed during the spring of the junior year and the summer after your junior year. Where have past interns worked? Within nearly every college and professional sport setting, including the NFL, NBA, NASCAR and NCAA Division I athletic programs.
