About Sport management

While a sport sciences degree focuses on the science of sport, a sport management degree focuses on the business of sport. Sport management majors enjoy a robust course of study in the classroom. They also put theory into practice with a three-credit-hour internship in the summer between their junior and senior years. This full-time internship working with industry professionals prepares you to transition from school to the workplace.

Second Year

Courses	Take SRMT 210 or 212, SRMT 220 and ECON 221 or ACCT 253 Explore an elective that could possibly interest you in a minor (MARK, EXSC, PSYCH, CCR are common choices) Check in with your advisor about academic progress and upcoming plans
Opportunities	Consider becoming a Peer Mentor for Gateway 101 Explore on-campus job opportunities Look into specific interests clubs (club sports, e-sports, etc.)
Research	Continue getting involved with professors and asking about possible research opportunities Check out the W'Engage seminar offerings
Exploration	Consider joining the School of Sport Sciences Leadership Academy Investigate opportunities to volunteer on and off campus

Third Year

Courses	Take SRMT 242, SRMT 300, SRMT 301, SRMT 330, SRMT 370, MGMT 302 Take SRMT 477 (Internship Experience I - Spring only) Finish any remaining courses toward General Education Take elective courses or courses toward a minor
Opportunities	Explore opportunities for your summer internship (SRMT 479) Continue involvement in special interest clubs and look for new opportunities
Research	Partner with a faculty member and apply for Reeves Summer Research Grant Consider signing up for a W'International course to learn more about a different culture and travel there in May or June.
Exploration	Meet with your Faculty Advisor to discuss career or graduate school plans If graduate school interests you, begin looking into different programs and preparing for entrance exams

Fourth Year
