Wingate University is working with local community colleges to break down educational barriers by increasing access to baccalaureate-degree programs and providing students with a seamless transfer pathway. Our Gateway Scholarship community college partners include: South Piedmont Community College, Central Piedmont Community College, Stanly Community College, Richmond Community College, Blue Ridge Community College, and Rowan-Cabarrus Community College.

What is the Gateway to Wingate program?
The idea of a scholarship that would reward associate’s-degree graduates for their hard work and encourage them to pursue a bachelor’s degree emerged from a growing partnership between South Piedmont Community College and Wingate University and the state’s growing need for a better prepared workforce.
That’s where the Gateway to Wingate program comes in. It guarantees that annual out-of-pocket tuition costs at Wingate will be no more than $2,500 for qualifying applicants.
Who qualifies?
Anyone with an associate’s degree from South Piedmont Community College who has been admitted to Wingate University for the fall semester of 2019 or later qualifies for the Gateway to Wingate Program. Applicants must complete the FAFSA or an applicable financial responsibility form.
- They are eligible to complete their bachelor's degree for no more than $2,500 per year in tuition.
- Adult students who are 24 years or older and are pursuing the Adult Bachelor’s of Liberal Studies program (100% online) are eligible to have their tuition capped at $2,500 per year or less.

Road 2 Wingate
Guaranteed Admission
After earning your associate degree at SPCC while maintaining an overall GPA of 2.5, you will be guaranteed admission at Wingate University.
Seamless Transfer
Start your first semester on the Road2Wingate plan where 100% of your credits transfer.
Coordinated Support
While on the Road2Wingate you'll receive quality advising, career counseling and financial aid assistance from both South Piedmont and Wingate staff.
Event & Facility Access
While attending SPCC you will be able to gain access to Wingate's athletic events and academic facilities.
The Road2Wingate is open to all first semester SPCC students, including Early College and Career & College Promise, in Arts, Science, Fine Arts, and Education transfer degree programs.
After earning your Associate Degree at South Piedmont you can transfer to Wingate University for no more than $2,500 per year in tuition with the Gateway to Wingate scholarship for eligible degrees.
