Gateway to Wingate

The idea of a scholarship that would reward associate’s-degree graduates for their hard work and encourage them to pursue a bachelor’s degree emerged from a growing partnership between Blue Ridge Community College and Wingate University and the state’s growing need for a better prepared workforce.

That’s where the Gateway to Wingate program comes in. It guarantees that annual out-of-pocket tuition costs at Wingate will be no more than $2,500 for qualifying applicants.

Anyone with an associate’s degree from Blue Ridge Community College who has been admitted to Wingate University for the fall semester of 2022 or later qualifies for the Gateway to Wingate Program. Applicants must complete the FAFSA or an applicable financial responsibility form. 

• They are eligible to complete their bachelor's degree for no more than $2,500 per year in tuition. 
• Adult students who are 24 years or older and are pursuing the Adult Bachelor’s of Liberal Studies program (100% online) are eligible to have their tuition capped at $2,500 per year or less.

No recipient will pay more than $2,500 in tuition per year. Please note the academic year is defined as the fall and spring terms. The Gateway Scholarship does not apply for courses taken during the summer and winter terms.

The scholarship can be applied to tuition only. Students who wish to live on campus must pay room and board separately. 

The scholarship is funded through the Federal PELL Grant, the North Carolina Need-Based Scholarship, institutional scholarships and support from generous donors.
