Student Checklist Requirements

To complete your housing application, meal plan selection, and vehicle registration.  This should be completed as soon as possible to allow Residence Life to issue your housing assignment!  All students with in-person classes must complete or opt out of the vehicle registration by the first day of class.

To complete your insurance requirements, log in to the Medicat Patient Portal and select “Insurance,” or visit Student Blue to submit your information.

To meet the health insurance requirement, either enroll in the University-sponsored plan or provide proof of your own coverage under a U.S. based policy. You’ll need to do this each semester to avoid a non-refundable insurance charge to your student account. 

The insurance waiver/enroll period opens in early April but can only be accessed once you are registered for classes.

Your Workday onboarding tasks include reviewing and updating your personal information, adding a third party user (such as a parent or guardian), completing financial aid documents, and other checklist requirements.

Students should begin by reviewing the financial aid process, cost of attendance and available funding options before completing the steps below.

1. Apply for Financial Aid
   • Eligible students should complete the 2026-2027 FAFSA at studentaid.gov
   • Be sure to include Wingate University's school code, 002985
2. Monitor Your Workday Inbox
   • ­Check your Workday inbox regularly for any financial aid action items or requests for additional documentation
3. Review Your Financial Aid Offer
   • Once your financial aid eligibility has been determined, you will receive a notice to review your aid offer in Workday
   • Carefully review your aid offer and accept/decline available options, as needed
4. Complete your Cost & Planning Worksheet
   • Start by selecting your standard charges for 2026-2027 based on your expected housing status
   • Review any additional charges that may apply based on your housing selection, meal plan, etc.
   • Add your standard & additional charges and enter this amount into the space for “Total Combined Charges” 
   • Enter your total grants/scholarships for the academic year from your financial aid offer
   • The difference between your total combined charges and your total grants/scholarships will provide you with your total expected remaining cost.
   • Based on your individual financial aid offer, options to assist with your remaining cost could include:
     • Federal Direct Subsidized/Unsubsidized Loan options
     • Federal Direct PLUS Loans for Parents
     • Alternative/Private Loans for Students and/or Parents
     • Wingate University Payment Plan

Important Note: The Financial Aid Team will be available to meet with families one-on-one during your scheduled Orientation event and will complete the Cost & Planning Worksheet with you on site.

As part of the University's transition to Workday, the Student Financials module is still being finalized.  Therefore, billing activity, account details, and billing statements will not be available or fully accurate in Workday until late July.  Once the Student Financials implementation is complete, you will be notified and will be able to access your billing statement through the Financials Hub in Workday.  

Upon the release of billing statements, any outstanding balance will be due by August 15, 2026. Payments may be made directly through your Workday account once statements become available.  Students who are unable to pay their balance in full will have the option to enroll in a payment plan to spread payments over time.  For additional information regarding options for resolving an outstanding balance after all financial aid has been applied, please contact or visit a Financial Aid or Student Financials representative.  An account is considered to be in good standing when the balance has been paid in full, or when the student has made the required payment, is enrolled in a payment plan, and remains current on all scheduled payments.
