We want to ensure you’re as healthy in body as in mind. There’s no shortage of ways for you to get fit or stay in shape. We offer outstanding campus facilities with a broad range of intramural sports, fitness classes, sports clubs, outdoor trips and recreation events. The two-story McGee Center opened in 2017. Amenities include:
- A multipurpose activity court
- A suspended running track
- Areas for weight and cardio training
- Racquetball courts
- Spacious locker rooms
- Two basketball courts
- Two fitness studios
Wingate University students, faculty and staff can use the McGee Center at no charge. A WU ID card is required to enter. There is a fee for an optional towel service and to work with a personal fitness trainer.

Monday - Thursday 6 a.m. to 11 p.m.
Friday 6 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Saturday 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Sunday Noon to 11 p.m.
Swim open hours
Monday - Friday 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Saturday and Sunday 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.

You can get a job leading fitness classes, reffing a game or managing the facilities. Meanwhile, you’re developing marketable skills that will help you succeed after graduation.
The dance team performs at traditional campus events and during halftime of home basketball games. Tryouts and practices are part of participating on the Wingate University Dance Team. An interest meeting is held early in the fall.
This new club seeks to encourage the campus community to play (or learn to play) racquetball. We plan on competing in the near future.
The Wingate Skateboarding club is a social club for anyone interested in skateboarding. We visit local skate parks and skate around campus.
Wingate University Ultimate Frisbee is a competitive, co-ed traveling ultimate frisbee team. Even if you’ve never heard of the sport, we encourage you to come check it out. It’s quite a unique sport for all types of people!
Wingate Rugby Football competes against clubs from other schools in the area. We practice two times a week and compete anywhere from 5-10 matches per year.
