Statement of Inclusion

Wingate University strives to cultivate an inclusive and welcoming environment. The University affirms principles of fairness and social justice. We believe a diverse academy supports greater learning outcomes, enhances the campus ethos, prepares students and graduates for a multicultural workforce and society, and contributes to self-reflection and growth. We will work to be an institution that embraces inclusiveness and champions equity.


What are we working on now?

  • Creating a new strategic plan
  • Actively interviewing for the Chief Diversity Officer role
    • We are excited to be underway with our Chief Diversity Officer Search at Wingate University.  A preliminary search committee has been established to review the 50+ applications we received for our CDO position. The posting went live on the Wingate Careers site on May 3, 2022. The search committee met and reviewed the resumes and narrowed the candidate pool to 10 and from there Zoom interviews were scheduled. Nine out of the 10 were interviewed (one candidate had already accepted an offer at another institution). The search committee narrowed the candidate pool to four individuals who stood out from the rest to bring on campus to meet with the search committee, DEI Council, and the Executive Leadership Team. Part of the second round interview process includes a presentation on the following topic: What Would be the top Three DEI priorities for Wingate University?  Faculty and Staff will be invited to view the presentation via Zoom.  The third and final round will consist of a more intensive interview with a larger search committee group which would also include students. Stay tuned for more information as we get closer to making a final selection.
