Eric Schneider arrived at Wingate University in July 2015, where he joined the School of Pharmacy as Assistant Dean for Academics. In June 2018 he assumed the position of Vice Provost for Health Sciences and then transitioned to Vice Provost for Institutional Effectiveness in November 2019. In this role he is responsible for coordinating many of the quality assurance initiatives of the university. Additionally, he serves as the liaison to the university’s regonial accreditor, the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges.
Dr. Schneider received a Bachelor’s of Science in Pharmacy from the Saint Louis College of Pharmacy in 1987. He received a Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the Medical University of South Carolina in 1990 and completed a Clinical Pharmacy Residency in Family Medicine in 1991.
Prior to arriving at Wingate University, Dr. Schneider served on the faculty of four U.S. Family Medicine Residency programs and has taught in the colleges of pharmacy, medicine, and nursing of several universities. Most recently, Dr. Schneider was Associate Director for Curriculum and Assessment at the University of Waterloo School of Pharmacy in Kitchener, Ontario, Canada. Dr. Schneider’s area of clinical expertise is family medicine pharmacotherapeutics (both ambulatory and hospital). His clinical research interest has centered on chronic disease management, quality of care, and utilization of healthcare teams in patient management. Dr. Schneider is also interested in the scholarship of teaching and learning, particularly in learning assessment.
Dr. Schneider has presented over 100 National, State/Provincial or Local seminars and has published a number of papers and book chapters. He has received teaching awards in both Pharmacy and Family Medicine Residency education.
