About Me

After graduating from Wingate University in 2006 with a degree in music education, I taught chorus and general music for eight years in low-income, Charlotte-area public schools. A vocalist and pianist, I previously owned and operated a vocal and piano studio for private instruction for three years. My passion for music and writing grants for classroom instruments and music supplies led me to manage grants for the Charlotte Symphony, where I discovered the exciting world of research, which led me back to Wingate University.

When I’m not working, I enjoy traveling to new places, playing the occasional round of golf, and spending time with my husband and our adorable Lab mix Scout. We also have a fat cat named Pooka (almost 15 lbs) who always wants to eat!
