About Me

I have always enjoyed science and knew I wanted to be a scientist at an early age. I realized that I wanted to teach when I was living overseas. At the time I was teaching English as a Second Language (ESL) and really enjoyed it. When I returned to the states, I knew I wanted to teach chemistry!

I have been teaching at Wingate University for 12 years. During that time I have taught mainly organic chemistry. Most recently I have taught a class called Chemistry in Society that is for non-science majors. I have really enjoyed showing my students that you don’t have to be a chemistry major to enjoy or learn about chemistry — it is all around you!

Outside of the classroom, I enjoy spending time with my husband and son. I also enjoy traveling. I have taught three W’International classes, mainly focusing on North Africa.
