Accreditation

Wingate University is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) to award baccalaureate, masters, educational specialist,  and doctorate degrees Wingate University also may offer credentials such as certificates and diplomas at approved degree levels. In addition to our SACSCOC accreditation, the following programs have gained accreditation:

The Porter B. Byrum School of Business is nationally accredited by the Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP). ACBSP is the leading accreditation association for business education for institutions with a focus on teaching excellence. ACBSP accreditation assures students of a commitment to overall quality, academic rigor and continuous improvement in business education.

The Thayer School of Education is accredited by the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction and the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools.

The Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education has awarded the Wingate University School of Pharmacy full accreditation for the eight-year cycle. This extends the School of Pharmacy’s accreditation to June 30, 2029. Eight years is the maximum allowable accreditation term.

The Athletic Training Program is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education Programs (CAATE), located at 2001 K Street NW, 3rd Floor North, Washington, DC 20006.  CAATE’s telephone number is (512) 733-9700 and its web address is www.caate.net. Effective February 2020, the program is on probation.  Wingate University has chosen to close its Athletic Training Program and will voluntarily withdraw its accreditation effective August 2022.

The baccalaureate nursing program at Wingate University is accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN), located at 3390 Peachtree Road NE, Suite 1400 Atlanta, GA 30326.  ACEN’s telephone number is (404) 975-5000 and its web address is www. www.acenursing.org.

The Wingate University MBA and MAC programs are nationally accredited by the Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP). ACBSP is the leading accreditation association for business education for institutions with a focus on teaching excellence. ACBSP accreditation assures students of a commitment to overall quality, academic rigor and continuous improvement in business education.

The Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA) has granted Accreditation Continued status to the Harris Department of Physician Assistant Studies at Wingate University. Accreditation Continued is an accreditation status granted when a currently accredited program is in compliance with ARC – PA standards.

The health and physical education teacher education program at Wingate University is fully accredited by the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction.
