Admissions

The application cycle for the cohort that will begin in August 2023 opens in July 2022 and will close on January 1, 2023. We will admit 36 students to our Class of 2026.

Wingate University uses the Occupational Therapy Centralized Application Service (OTCAS) for all applications to the occupational therapy program. Applications are reviewed on a rolling admissions process which means we review them as soon as we receive verification from OTCAS that the application is complete.

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
Applicants to the Wingate University OTD program must meet the following admission requirements:

  1. A baccalaureate degree from a regionally accredited institution must be completed before your cohort begins in August (official transcript required).
  2. A minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 with a “C” or better in all prerequisite courses.
  3. Three (3) letters of recommendation; at least one must be from an occupational therapist and at least one must be from a professor/advisor.
  4. A minimum of 40 hours of clinical observation with an occupational therapist in at least two practice settings with different aged clients.
  5. There can be no more than three (3) outstanding prerequisites at the time of application.

Prerequisite coursework completed in spring and summer 2020, and graded on a Pass/Fail basis will be considered.  Additional documentation may be required.  If your ability to attain observation hours or letters of recommendation has been negatively impacted due to COVID-19, please reach out to us at OTD@Wingate.edu for alternative options.
