First-Generation Students

Pre-orientation allows program participants to move in early and go through a series of workshops and other activities that will prepare them for the start of the semester. Pre-orientation will also provide opportunities for parents/guardians to learn more about the university and campus resources.

Each first-gen participant is paired with a peer mentor who will help navigate the entire college experience for the first academic year.

Some program participants will have the option to live together on the same floor in a residence hall. The shared experience of living together will provide the opportunity to participate in social activities, while supporting and overcoming challenges together. 

Social activities throughout the year continue to help participants learn more about each other on a more personal level while having fun! Social events range from movie and game nights, to making smores at the campus fire pit!

Each month the ARC Study Buddies will help you develop important academic & life skills through interactive workshops. Workshops will be customized to meet the challenges that students are having at a particular point in the semester.
