Your physician assistant studies may take you many places during your career but you’ll never forget the time you spent as a student on the Wingate University Hendersonville campus.
Hendersonville, NC is a charming town nestled amid the beauty of Western North Carolina and 22 miles south of Asheville. While the population may be only 13,300, this isn’t a sleepy town. There’s a vibrant downtown filled with unique shops and excellent dining options. Historic neighborhoods and a busy event calendar contribute to the high quality of life.
Wingate University established its first campus here in 2011 and the physician assistant studies program began educating students in 2013. The location was deliberate, because one of the missions of the program is to serve rural and underserved areas. The program is eagerly looking forward to moving into their new facilities in 2016 as part of the health education and medical center. PA students have their classrooms, labs and soft spaces for study in the new building.
Four distinct seasons create a host of opportunities for students to unwind as they explore the natural setting. Peaceful settings beckon as impromptu study spots under the trees or near a burbling creek outside the town. Fans of hiking, whitewater rafting, kayaking and biking take advantage of the nearly endless ways to enjoy Mother Nature.
