SI Leaders are currently enrolled Wingate University students who have excelled in the course they support in the SI Program. SI Leaders will guide students through problems, concepts, and provide opportunities for practice.
SI Leaders attend the same class sessions with current students and record class notes. SI Leaders have weekly and exam preparation sessions to assist students with understanding the course material and share how to effectively study for the course.
SI sessions are group study sessions where students ask questions, review course concepts, go over practice problems with SI Leaders, and work together with their peers.
SI Leaders will share their successful study skills, note-taking skills, and preparation techniques for exams. Also, SI Leaders work with students to develop or enhance key strategies for success, such as time management, critical reading, and how to set and achieve academic goals.
It is well documented that SI attendance has a positive impact on student’s grades. The more sessions a student attends the greater the success in that course. SI attendance has also shown to improve grades in a variety of courses.
