Wingate University has unveiled plans for its Society of 1896, recognizing donors who make annual gifts of $1,000 or more to any University initiative, program or department.

These gifts allow WU to be a laboratory of difference-making, empowering Wingate’s students to become the next generation of difference-makers and ensuring that a Wingate education is life-changing for all.

Benefits for Society of 1896 members include the following:

  • A commemorative gift celebrating your membership.

  • Access to member-exclusive communications.

  • Invitations to member-only events.

  • Opportunities to meet with WU faculty and students.

  • Special Society of 1896 donor recognition.

“I’m very excited about the creation of the Society of 1896,” Wingate President Rhett Brown said. “Your support allows for innovation in teaching and learning that extends outside the classroom. It makes a transformative, life-changing educational experience possible for every student and professor. Members of the Society of 1896 help us achieve educational outcomes that elevate students and have an impact on the community.”

Additionally, graduates of the past decade will have the opportunity to receive Society of 1896 benefits at giving levels of $250 for those who have graduated in the past four years and $500 for those who have graduated in the past five to 10 years.

Membership in the society will run concurrently with Wingate’s fiscal year, which is June 1 to May 31.
