Joel Gashagaza '16 grew up extremely poor in a Rwanda still recovering from the horrific genocide in the 1990s. He hopes to use his Wingate degree to help lift others out of poverty in his homeland.
When a gunman opened fire on a concert in Las Vegas from a hotel room across the street, Kelly Barland '12 had a choice: run and hide, or put her medical training to use. The School of Pharmacy graduate instinctively chose the latter. She says she was "in the right place at the right time."
After cutting his teeth making three-minute videos, Kerrin Sheldon '08 has found his feet in the world of longer-form documentary filmmaking. Sheldon and his wife won an Emmy and were nominated for an Oscar last year for their film "Heroin(e)."
