The Wilma L. McCurdy Memorial Fund was established in 1970, when Ms. McCurdy created the scholarship specifically for students who are permanent residents of Stanly County, North Carolina.
The amount of the scholarship is determined by the McCurdy Foundation each year.
This fund is one of a number of scholarships in North Carolina that serve to promote excellence among residents of the state. If there are no eligible students from Stanly County, then excellent students from surrounding counties may be eligible for the scholarship. To be eligible, students must be in good academic standing and attend Wingate University or one of the following schools:
- Campbell University
- Chowan University
- Gardner-Webb University
- Mars Hill College
- Meredith College
- Wake Forest University
Once your eligibility has been determined, to be considered for the scholarship, you must:
- Maintain a 2.0 minimum GPA
- Complete and submit an application by August 1
