If you have health-related questions, just ask us. Our job is to make sure everyone on the Wingate University campus is healthy. These are a few of the most frequently asked questions we’re asked.
Am I required to have health insurance?
Yes, you need to provide proof of your personal health insurance or enroll in the Wingate University Student Health Insurance Plan.
Are there any events on campus that can teach me how to live healthier?
Yes, Wingate University hosts wellness events on campus throughout the year.
Are there pharmacies near campus?
Yes, at least six pharmacies are a short drive from campus.
Can I walk in to the Health Center or do I need to schedule an appointment?
We recommend that you schedule an appointment, although you can be seen if time permits.
Do I have to pay a fee when I go to the Health Center?
The fees for routine Health Center visits are covered in your tuition, although select services do require a fee.
I’m a new, re-admitted or a transfer student. What health requirements do I need to take care of?
If you’re a new student, you must:
- Enroll in or waive out of the Wingate University Student Health Insurance Plan
- Provide an official immunization record
- Receive a physical exam within 12 months of the first day of class
- Receive a TB Skin test within 12 months of the first day of class
The Health Center is closed. What should I do?
Call 911 if you have an emergency. If you need general after-hours care, CMC-Union Hospital in Monroe, North Carolina, is less than five miles from campus. You can also sign up with CampusMD for 24-hour access to a licensed physician.
