Wingate University requires all full-time (12 or more credit hours) undergraduate and graduate students on Wingate and Hendersonville campuses to have health insurance. Health Science students are required to have proof of insurance regardless of the number of credit hours taken.
Students can choose to be covered by a personal plan or to enroll in the Wingate University Health Insurance Plan. Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Carolina (BCBS) offers Wingate University students a comprehensive coverage option at a competitive rate. Plans are offered on a per-semester basis so students can choose insurance that best fits their needs.
Students can either WAIVE or they must ENROLL in Wingate University’s health insurance plan EACH semester during the open enrollment period to avoid being charged. Failure to waive out of the plan by the due date will result in a nonrefundable insurance charge on your student account. The cost of the insurance is $888 each semester (or $1776/year).
If you have questions about Wingate’s mandatory student health insurance, drop by to see us in the Clubhouse or e-mail the Health Center.
