We help you stay on top of the weather.
At Wingate University, our Office of Campus Safety works tirelessly to provide rapid responses to weather-related incidents. We stay abreast of current conditions so we can let you know when there’s something of concern. But we want you to do your part by being weather smart.
While maintaining safety as our primary goal, we also focus on providing rapid communication in the event of cancellations and closures. We do our absolute best to advise faculty, staff and students of the approach of potentially dangerous weather via phone or email alerts.
What You Can Do
No one can change the weather or even predict it accurately all the time. But it just makes sense to stay up-to-date about the forecast. In the event severe weather is approaching, we ask that you:
- Remain calm.
- Move away from windows.
- Evacuate the building as directed.
- DO NOT use the fire alarm system unless there is a fire.
If you’re worried about impending bad weather, we’ll send you a message if the university’s location is under a watch or warning. We encourage you to monitor local news stations for the latest information.
Check the university’s Facebook page for weather-related announcements.
Download a weather alert app for your smartphone.
There are a number of ways to be weather smart. If you have questions, just let us know and we’ll do our best to answer them.
