At first, everything about our North Carolina campus might seem different. But our Southern hospitality quickly makes new students feel right at home. Wingate University’s activities for international students help you fit into your new home.

Students participate in the International ProgramsWe invite you to explore the community you’ll soon call home. From orientation to our farewell parties, Wingate University makes sure you get the most from campus life.

Orientation and Welcome Party

At the beginning of each academic year, we host orientation for new international students. Then we gather to introduce new international students to returning upperclassmen, building a network of support.

International Week

International Week highlights cultures and customs from around the world. We help promote tolerance and understanding through first-hand exposure to diverse perspectives and ideas. Activities include country presentations, career panels, international trivia competitions and international food tastings. You might hear Spanish, French or German spoken during the dedicated conversation hours throughout campus.

Speaker Series

We invite international students and others to give topical presentations. Faculty members also lead discussions spurred by international events and present aspects of their research or scholarship throughout the year.

Community Outreach

The Office of International Programs is Wingate University’s hub for multiculturalism and creates opportunities for students of different backgrounds to interact. We also speak to students in nearby secondary schools and invite them to our campus.

Farewell Party

We organize a party for graduating international students each year. All international students are invited as we celebrate the success of our seniors and wish them luck in their endeavors.

International Club and Multicultural Advisory Council (MAC)

Both organizations promote cultural exchange across campus and give students a platform to develop their leadership skills.

We hope you’ll choose to get involved in campus life as an international student.
